Yesterday I gave a presentation to the U.S. assembly of a joint project of the International Atomic Energy Agency (ISOE). In one part of it I used the slide you see at the top of this piece titled the “U.S. Department of Angst”. In the presentation I detailed the long worry list the U.S. government was dealing with concerning the occupation of the southern polar region of our Moon.
That any government is a “necessary evil” has been frequently lamented by many. Is every government evil? Not all of it. But some of it is unavoidably so. Yet, is any secular government, such as ours, a machine of constant angst? Absolutely!
Why?
Because our government has restricted itself to pure operational secularism and has rooted out and marginalized most official references to religion. It has deliberately misquoted the founding father’s ideas of the “separation of church and state” and reconstructed the argument so that religion somehow threatens the republic instead of making it more secure.
That is precisely why we need a U.S. Department of Angst. Because in a government that has effectively and efficiently worked overtime to outlaw God, we are unavoidably left on our own to solve all of our problems ourselves by our own choice. Instead of the United States handing the problems over to the Creator to solve, we try to handle everything in-house. If any government official actually asked God in prayer for some help, someone is going to get sued and perhaps even jailed. At the very least, they will lose their professional credibility and their government jobs.
What is God’s response to all this? Check this out from Psalm 2:1-4…
“Why are the nations in an uproar
And the peoples devising a vain thing?
The kings of the earth take their stand
And the rulers take counsel together
Against the Lord and against His Anointed, saying,
“Let us tear their fetters apart
And cast away their cords from us!”
He who sits in the heavens laughs,
The Lord scoffs at them.”
Why does God openly mock and ridicule these fools? Because He has already given us every answer to every problem.
Here is it clearly spelled out from Philippians 4:5-7:
“Let your gentle spirit be known to all men. The Lord is near. Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
An authentic national faith in our God would remove any necessity for a U.S. Department of Angst.
Likewise, our individual faith in our God, which this passage promises “is near”, promises to remove any need for any degree of angst in each of our own lives.
Beloved Templar, let me get right to the point. Our government had rejected God and moved Him out of the public square by passing laws against His open participation. That is a poor decision which has clear repercussions that we are witnessing each day.
But individually, no government can ever take away your relationship and open agreement with the wisdom and clear instruction of Holy Scripture. You need not wake up on any morning with angst about anything at all. You can actually and authentically live a whole life from cradle to grave covered by faith and an outlook described as constant love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. No angst is necessary! Your God has you back and has accepted your problems as His to solve. He frees you up to live that life of a God-centered energetic creativity and a supernaturally empowered personal productivity unencumbered by the wholesale waste of the terminal cancer of angst.
He has taken all that from us and in so doing has healed us of that cursed sickness of endless worry.
What is our job in all of this? We should simply let go and allow Him to have all our problems and the angst so that we can simply live, create and enjoy every breath under the sun during the fleeting moments of our lives!
