Endless Wars on Timeless Battlefields

As an engineer and scientist, I have learned after three quarters of a century of observation that the world that we live in is all about the quantum reality that underlies it all. Anyone who perceives only the classical world that we view with our eyes understands merely an anecdotal abstraction, not the true reality that underlies everything.

As an ordained minister, I have likewise learned by observing endless wars on timeless battlefields that they are merely expressions of an underlying handful of foundational truths. These are fundamental, unalterable realities on which literally everything is built and connected – even down to the quantum substrate.

So, as we observe the end of yet another war on Holy ground, we, as very limited humans, tend to oversimplify and pick sides based on deliberately constructed misinformation ultimately designed to orchestrate and support false narratives. Even that thought leads to yet another false pathway – creating a mysterious labyrinthine conspiracy that literally has no coherent endpoint. Again, we are being led to follow an anecdotal abstraction, not the true reality that underlies everything.

Carl Sagan apparently understood this clearly and described it as the final thought of his fictional character Ellie at the end of his book Contact:

“Ellie had been fierce in debunking the creation myths of others, but oblivious to the lie at the core of her own. She had studied the universe all her life, but had overlooked its clearest message:

‘For small creatures such as we, the vastness is bearable only through love.’”

God revealed this reality 3,425 years ago when He said, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might.” (Deuteronomy 6:5)  Jesus amplified this fundamental truth by stating, “’You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.’  This is the great and foremost commandment. The second is like it, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ On these two commandments depend the whole Law and the Prophets.” (Matthew 22:37-40)

The quantum substrate of the universe is summed herein as pure, undefiled love for God and for one another – even and especially our enemies. And Jesus proclaimed that love is the ultimate filter for every Word in our Judeo-Christian Bible.

Why do we have endless wars on timeless battlefields at all? Because we do not love as we are commanded. Instead, we oversimplify and pick sides based on deliberately constructed misinformation ultimately designed to orchestrate and support false narratives. Once again, even that thought leads to yet another false pathway – creating a mysterious labyrinthine conspiracy that literally has no coherent endpoint.

Without the supernatural prompting of the indwelling Holy Spirit of God, it is the only available endpoint for any of us. Without the mind of Christ, we have no hope of escaping the trap set by a supernatural spiritual intelligence focused on our continuous confusion and ultimate destruction.

God noted this as well when He warned us solemnly to stop paying attention to the talking heads of our culture: “You are not to say, ‘It is a conspiracy!’ in regard to all that this people call a conspiracy, and you are not to fear what they fear or be in dread of it. It is the Lord of hosts Whom you should regard as holy. And He shall be your fear, and He shall be your dread.” (Isaiah 8:12-13)

Our supernaturally brilliant enemy has quite easily outwitted our mere human intellect, as he has done generation after generation. The moment we decide we do not need God, His Word, or His love and command to truly and deeply love our enemies, we are doomed. We then stumble into a zombie-like existence following the malicious evil master wherever he wishes to lead us, deeper and deeper into the conspiracy de jour he has constructed for every mindset.

Sadly, apparently most Christians have never read or seen Isaiah 8:12-13, much less considered it a command that, like all others, has the power to heal us and set us along the right path to the end of this life, filled every day with the Holy Spirit’s fruit of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. But who needs all those blessings when we can choose to get a dose of a neatly packaged, custom-made, fear-filled conspiracy?

So, the long war in the Holy Land has finally ended. Am I not excited and filled with joy because of it?

I am always filled with joy and gladness about all things; it is my spiritual gift for being a conscientious student of God’s inerrant and Holy Word.

But the endless war on the timeless battlefield will rage on and even become exponentially worse. This is not even a reset. It is a brief recess with an ever-shortening half-life leading to something truly terrible.

How do I know this? I am a student of God’s Word with the trained mind of a scientist and engineer. And I can read the pages and passages of the story that is leading all of us together to the end of all things. For literally everything is always and only about the Kingdom of God.

My devout Chrsitian brother, Sir Issac Newton, was the scientist who enumerated gravity for the first time and who invented higher mathematics. But, to him, those works were trivial in comparison to his lifelong devoted study of the Word of God and his mathematical analysis of the final days described in the Bible. Nothing could keep this brilliant scientist from his research in the greatest field of human intellect ever gifted to humankind.

But our enemy will literally do anything to keep you from the pages that Sir Issac loved, as he knew so well its astonishing power to change the reader. Its enduring passages unpack the long game in exquisite detail, and the reason for these endless wars on timeless battlefields. And it gives us as Christ-followers and Templar soldiers of the Cross of Jesus every reason to hope.

So today, rejoice always, pray without ceasing, and in everything give thanks, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. (1 Thes 5:16-18) It is good that hostages were released and that our brothers and sisters imprisoned for 740 days in the Greek Orthodox Church of Saint Porphyrius and the Holy Family Catholic Church were finally freed to rejoin their families. It is good that Gaza is no longer being reduced to rocks and sand. It is good that a terrorist enclave encompassing an entire city has been torn down so that innocents are no longer targets of death.

But as for me, I will look to the heavens and speak without ceasing through the Spirit within me to the God Who created it all. I am not called to embrace the absurd theater of conspiracy dramas that drown humanity in their futility. But instead I am called to become a messenger of hope and vessel of joy to all people. For my real enemy and my warfare is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. (Ephesians 6:12)

Thus, each day, day after day, I become a willing part of that long epic war, my Templar sword strapped to my belt as I go out to engage the real enemy on the timeless battlefields of those endless wars, a child soldier of the King of all kings. And it is He, my Lord Master, Who has already declared, “It is finished!”

And so it is. It’s just a matter of time before those battlefields are overshadowed by the cosmic spectacle of New Jerusalem itself. Until then…

“Many will be purged, purified, and refined, but the wicked will act wickedly; and none of the wicked will understand, but those who have insight will understand.” (Daniel 12:10)
